Electronic Arts and I

Ever since I was a kid, Electronic Arts (EA), one of the largest video game companies out there, was always the way to go for me. You would know if a game was good because it was being published by Electronic Arts. I only wonder if they’re going to stay that way or not.

EA was a big company when they released Medal of Honor WWII and The Sims series during the time of PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2. I loved how they were the top publisher at the time.

Unfortunately, only a few years later, EA slowed down the publications and productions enough to cause everyone to stop paying attention to what EA was releasing and creating. While EA had a huge sports section where you were able to choose any sport you liked, it still seemed like that all EA cared for was a variety of sport games and The Sims. All of this happened around the time when Sony’s PS2 was near its end and the PS3 was about to be emerged from its ashes.

People came out to hate EA just like how nowadays people are starting to hate Activision, or more specifically, Infinity Ward, for the downfalls of the Call of Duty and Guitar Hero franchise. Today, however, things seem to be changing with EA as they will be releasing many huge titles such as Battlefield 3, Crysis 2, and Dragon Age 2 this year. EA seems to be putting all of their efforts into taking the popular Call of Duty franchise along with Activison down.

Apparently, it looks like they’re doing a good job because Call of Duty is going down the drain at the moment. Will the largest video game company win this big battle for dominance in the video gaming industry? I would love to see what will come out of Electronic Arts’ efforts. What do you think?
